Bulalo at Mahogany Market, Tagaytay

You don’t go to Tagaytay and leave without eating the famous Bulalo Soup or Bone Marrow Soup. So when we checked out of One Tagaytay Place, we went straight ahead to Mahogany Market. Mahogany Market is the best place to buy fresh beef from Tagaytay and Batangas. They also have stalls after stalls, lined up and serving hot bulalo and other native dishes.

Bulalois a soup dish consisting of beef, tendons, bone marrow and vegetables such as beans and pechay {bok choy}. The enjoyment in eating this dish comes from the challenge in getting the bone marrow from the bone by either sucking the bone, picking it with the other end of the fork or just shaking the bone really hard until the marrow comes out.

We also ordered a lot of other dishes like Kare-Kare,a beef dish with vegetables flavored by peanut sauce.

Squid Adobo

Sinaing na Tulingan

Fried Pork Intestines

Lechon Kawali {Deep Fried Pork Belly}

Okoy {Fried Shrimp Patties}

This one, I did not enjoy…
Isn’t that cool?And for dessert, there’s this small “banana tree” on the table and you can eat as many bananas as you want.
Just in case you are wondering how good bulalo is, let me show you my cousin gamely posing for me while she’s eating the tendons off the bone…
 LOL!
It was definitely a fun day!!
