So, if you’ve been on TikTok lately, you’ve probably seen this Crispy Tofu Squares pop up everywhere. It’s been trending like crazy, especially as a street food favorite. Of course, being the curious foodie that I am, I couldn’t let this trend pass me by. Of course, hindi papahuli ang Mommy Peach nyo 😂 So, I decided to recreate it at home and trust me, it didn’t disappoint!

The tofu was absolutely chef’s kiss—crispy on the outside, but soft and tender on the inside. And don’t get me started on the sauce! It was creamy, savory, and had this rich depth of flavor thanks to the addition of liver spread. Honestly, it kind of reminded me of a deconstructed Tofu Sisig (although, full disclosure, my version of Tofu Sisig never had liver spread, so this was a bit of a game changer).

Here’s how I made this Crispy Tofu Squares:

  1. The Tofu: I used regular firm tofu that I picked up from the local palengke (wet market). I cut it into 1-inch squares, then dredged them in seasoned flour, dipped them in beaten egg, and coated them in Japanese bread crumbs. After that, I fried them up until they were golden brown and perfectly crispy.
  2. The Sauce: For the sauce, I just mixed mayo, liver spread, a bit of liquid seasoning, and calamansi juice to give it that perfect tangy-salty kick. Simple but so good!
  3. Garnish: I topped it all off with some freshly chopped spring onions to add a little crunch and color.

Seriously, guys, it was SO easy to make, and the flavor was on point. I have a feeling this will be our next go-to snack at home. I mean, who doesn’t love crispy tofu with a creamy, savory sauce? Try it out, and let me know what you think! 😊
