Samsam Chikin Korean Café + Kitchen officially opened in Greenbelt 3, so naturally our Korean Chicken-loving family wanted to try it. The place is cozy and has a clean, homey feel.
Our drinks were served first. I ordered the Iced Dalgona Coffee (₱200) which is cold dalgona coffee topped with honeycomb candy. It was cold, sweet, and just what I needed. It was one of those “sleepy” day for me.
Ykaie had the Fresh Red Grape Shake (₱200). The grapes they used was so fresh — the shake was refreshing!
Daddydoodledoo had a cocktail — Hibiscus Rose (₱265) it was made with hibiscus-infused soju, rose, and yakult. It’s refreshingly good with a sweet and tart finish.
Food Orders
Our meal started with Sam’s Salad (₱420) which has Black Sesame Fried Chikin, mango slices, cherry tomatoes, grapes on a bed of mixed greens tossed in pineapple vinaigrette. The black sesame fried chicken was crispy and a bit spicy but flavorful and a nice pair with the salad.
Samsam Chikin & Croissant Smash (₱480) is a breakfast meal. You can order your flavor of Fried Chikin — we had honey butter which is chef’s kiss! The croissant smash was sweet as it is with honey. This is the perfect pair of sweet and savory! The gravy was great with the honey butter chicken. I wa ssad to hear that this is going to be phased out soon.
The Bulgogi Tapa Bibimbrunch Bowl (₱520) is a must-try. Truly a pinoy-korean fusion with Beef Tapa Bulgogi, Japgokbap Garlic Rice, and sunny side up egg. I love the play of texture and flavors in this bowl. The tapa is sweet, savory, and tender and fatty.
Samsam Chikin in Soy Garlic. We got the 6 pieces for (₱880). You can also get it in 4, 8,and 12 pieces. It’s available in classic and premium flavors. Classics are: Crisp, Original, Honey Butter, Soy Garlic, Gangjeong Glazed, Yangnyeom, and Gochujang. Premium are: Black Sesame, Jalapeño, and Buldak Fire. It is served with pickled radish, and pickled cucumber with red onion.
I love that it’s boneless, crispy and well-coated with flavor!
Pasta
This my first time trying out tteokbokki pasta. The Royal Court Tteokbokki Pasta (Sharing| ₱850) has a combination of korean rice cakes, penne, and fettuccine. It also has shiitake mushrooms and carrots in savory gungjung sauce. This is so flavorful and I love the aldente, chewy, crunchy textures all at once. Earthy, nutty, and savory, it was a flavor bomb in every bite.
We also had the Crispy Snow Salmon (₱780) pan-seared salmon with crunchy, “snowy” skin. It was served with Japgokbap Garlic Rice, apple slaw, and mayak egg. The salmon was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and totally complemented the rice and slaw.
For dessert, we had their signature citron ice cream called the Yuja Ice Cream (Double Scoop -₱360). it was served with Citron jam on top and it was very refreshing. Just the right dessert to end such a flavorful meal.
Overall, Samsam Chikin did not disappoint. Whether you’re a fan of Korean chicken or looking for something different, this spot’s got you covered with its tasty, creative dishes and chill vibe. Can’t wait to go back for more!
