Good Mood Food That May Enhance the Libido. Do They Really Work?

They say that the quickest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Well, have you ever heard the saying: “the quickest way to get your partner in the mood for loving is through these 10 superfoods?” Probably not. In any case, this article is all about good mood food. But, do aphrodisiacs really work? Or are they more of a placebo than they are a genuine sexual stimulant? Let’s find out!

Do natural aphrodisiacs really work?

Unfortunately, there is little evidence to suggest that certain foods do genuinely produce a sexual response in men and women. However, that’s not to say that certain natural foods that are classed as aphrodisiacs don’t enhance sexual function. That, and many of the following foods provide a wide variety of nutrients that can benefit your health in a number of ways – so it can’t exactly hurt to try, right?

In addition to that, aphrodisiacs can often have a placebo effect. This essentially means that if you were to eat any of the following foods with the belief that it will stimulate sexual desire, the chances are that you will be more susceptible to feelings of arousal.

So, do they work? Yes, and no.

  1. Asparagus: Provides potassium, fibre, vitamin B6, vitamins A and C, and thiamine. Additionally, asparagus also contains folic acid which is said to boost histamine that helps with the ability to reach orgasm.
  2. Almonds: Almonds have long been a symbol of fertility in women and provides vitamin E, magnesium and fibre.
  3. Arugula: Arugula provides vitamins A and C, folic acid, calcium, manganese, and magnesium. They also have antioxidants which are thought to block environmental contaminants that may negatively impact that libido.
  4. Avocado: Here’s an interesting and nutty fact for you: The Aztecs called the avocado tree “Ahuacuatl,” which translates to “testicle tree”. The low-hanging fruit also provides folic acid, as well as vitamin B6 and potassium.
  5. Bananas: Aside from the obvious phallic shape, bananas are filled with potassium, magnesium and B vitamins. They also contain chelating minerals and the bromelain enzyme which are said to bolster the male libido.
  6. Basil: Basil was considered to be a royal herb to the ancient Greeks and can cure headaches, warm the body and promote circulation.
  7. Chocolate: Eating chocolate is sensual and delicious and when you do so the brain releases serotonin which stimulates the pleasure area of the brain.
  8. Eggs: Another ancient symbol of fertility, eating eggs provides vitamins B6 and B5, which can help to balance hormone levels and combat stress. Eggs are also a common shape in sex toys – but with these foods, you won’t need toys to get you and your partner in the mood!
  9. Figs: These sweet and delicious fruits have long been synonymous with erotic poetry and literature relating to the female sexual organs.
  10. Oysters: The classic aphrodisiac containing zinc, which raises sperm and testosterone production, thus increasing libido in men.

Experiment with these foods and see what happens. In any case, preparing a delicious meal for your partner is a good way to get them in the mood. There’s nothing sexier than someone who can cook!
