Blushing Cupcakes is one of my go to dessert shop when I am at the Sky Garden in SM North EDSA. That’s why when I received an invitation to drop by K&L Cafe by Blushing Cupcakes last December I told myself I’d just finish all my appointments and I’ll make sure to drop by their cafe.
I was touched by the warm welcome they have given me and my family. There was a cupcake arrangement near the entrance that says “Welcome The Peach Kitchen”
K & L Cafe is a homey, rustic cafe along Katipunan that is owned by sisters Karen & Loren. It’s a place where customers can feel relaxed, comfortable, and at home but it’s also a place where Karen and Loren can share a part of their lives, the place they grew up in — Baguio City.
The interiors were modernly sleek and clean but it’s also rustic and charming at the same time. It’s quite hard to merge these two qualities together but they did it so well that it resulted in a cozy place where you can feel at home.
Karen and Loren recommended some of the cafe’s bestsellers and we were excited to try it.
I went for the Longganisa Locale Pasta (₱219) which is an oil-based pasta made with Vigan Longganisa that’s removed from it’s skin. I love oil-based pasta and this is just perfect after a long day! It is fatty, garlicky, tasty and meaty — just what my tastebuds are longing for.
We also had Ilocos Bagnet with Tomato Salsa (₱265). It is served with mountain rice and veggies. The Bagnet is deep fried to a crisp. The tomato salsa and mountain rice is just perfect to balance out the chicharon-like fat and skin
Ykaie loves cheese pizza, so when she saw the 3 Cheese Pizza (₱339) on the menu, she told me that’s what she wanted. The serving is good enough for three and it’s made with mozzarella, cheddar, and parmesan cheese.
peanutbutter♥ had Daddy’s Bourbon American Ribs (₱295) which is a big slab of tender and juicy ribs, also served with mountain rice and buttered corn and carrots. It is smothered in rich Bourbon Barbecue Sauce and literally melts in your mouth…. it’s heaven in each bite. Can you see the fat surrounding the meat? That makes it even more tasty!
It was so nice to get to know Kare & Loren much better. Our conversation lasted the whole time we were there! They were very down to earth and we felt like we were talking to friends we’ve known for years! I think this is one of the things that makes K&L homey — it’s a friendly cafe.
The Maple Caramel Latte (₱105) is the perfect meal ender. It is made with Sagada Coffee beans with flavors of maple and caramel upon each sip.
I didn’t know calamansi and strawberry would go well together until I’ve tried K&L’s Famous Strawberry Calamansi (₱95). It is both tart and sweet. The sweet strawberry and the citrusy flavor marries into one unique blend that is unique and refreshing.
Lemon with Sagada Orange (₱95) Lemonade with orange is not new to me but there’s something about the sweetness of Sagada oranges that gave this drink a certain je ne sais quoi.
We all loved the Salted Caramel Brownies! As a matter of fact, Ykaie even ordered one for take out! This is something you must not miss from either Blushing Cupcakes or K & L Cafe.
The Red Velvet Cupcake (₱67) and Red Velvet Cheesecake (₱117) are also to-die-for! These are the perfect desserts to cap off your meal or the perfect pair to your coffee.
Aside from those three, they also have lots of yummy cakes like the Docto Pie, French Vanilla, Classic Caramel and many more.
You don’t have to travel all the way to Baguio to get Baguio to get Baguio goodies because you ccan also get some of them at K & L Cafe like Strawberry Blueberry Wine, Baguio Honey, Strawberry Jam, Chocolate Tablea, and Baguio Walis! Ykaie got herseld a small walis which we now use at home for dusting.

Oh my – this all looks amazing! I can almost taste that salted caramel brownie with that amazing latte! The meal looked great as well! I’ve never been in SM North EDSA, but this food might just put it on my bucket list!

Talk about the royal treatment. Everything from soup to nuts as they say, but this is like a meal fit for a king and queen. It looks absolutely delicious to make my mouth water. The cupcakes are are only the frosting on the cake for such a delightful meal. Lead me the way!!!! mmmmmmmmm
