I’m sorry I haven’t been around lately. By around, I mean cooking and sharing with you what’s boiling in the stove or bubbling in the oven. I don’t think I’ve done much cooking in the last ten days. I’ve been mostly eating out, attending events, or having unhealthy nightly food binging with sis. Man, I need some healthy eats! It’s just hard to come up with something healthy. Days have been hectic lately and I think it’s gonna continue to be hectic in the next couple of months.
The house construction is doing good. They’ve managed to tear down some of the existing walls and have put up new ones in other places. Sis jokingly asked me if they have a wrecking ball in there because she wants to borrow it and sing Wrecking Ball a la Miley Cyrus..LOL! Crazy sis I’ve got here.
Ykaie and I are watching GRIMM like crazy. She saw the Aswang episode and because she has this really strong preference for any show with monsters, she instantly became a fan. She even told me later last week that she has a “crush” on Nick Burkhardt! I guess she kinda sees him as a hero because he can see and he kills bad Wesens (monsters).
I’ve been swamped with work the past few days and I’ve been trying to finish some task. We are going out of town tomorrow but we’ll be back on friday night. Our destination? Pampanga and La Union. I guess I’ll just be saying hi to you from there through Instagram. I’ll try to update my blog but I doubt if I can. I know I’ll be too tired from driving. This trip is supposed to be for peanutbutter♥‘s vacation. We’re supposed to take turns driving…but the date of his vacay changed. Sis already booked and paid for this trip and couldn’t cancel.
I’m planning to low carb and portion control my way into losing weight (again) by next week. Wish me luck. That’s where my problem lies — in portion control. Sis and I wanted to try one of those 1,200-calorie diet delivery services but they don’t deliver in Caloocan area. I already asked around but I haven’t had much luck.
So why are we here again?
Oh right, the Kamias Shake.
I had my first Kamias Shake last year when we went to Cebu and ate at Zubuchon. It was the perfect palate cleanser when you’ve had too much fat and oil from the lechon (roasted pig). I fell in love with it because it has the perfect balance of tart and sweet.
Today, I made one simply because we had too much Kamias from my MIL’s tree in Malabon. Ykaie can only eat so much Kamias and I’ve yet to come up with time to make it into candy.
Or was I just looking for an excuse so I can tell myself it’s okay to eat Lechon Kawali (deep fried pork belly) today?

Masarap nga sya, nag-aagaw yung asim at tamis!
I do not know this fruit at all! Is it fruit? I am fascinated! I bet it tastes great though, I love sweet and tart together. I know life gets so busy it’s ridiculous! My kids were on their half term/ spring break last week and I don’t know where it went. I’m just as exhausted this week as I was last week and the week before! Hope it eases up for you,
Yes it’s a fruit. It’s a sour fruit sometimes used as souring agent to savory, soupy dishes.
Wishing you a fantastic holiday. I have never seen this fruit before. I will have to keep my eyes open for it. Your smoothie/shake looks so refreshing.
Thanks Bam!
I have never heard of kamias, just a wonder how it tastes…very interesting Peachy.
Have a nice week ahead dear 😀
Kamias is a very sour fruit and is sometimes used as a souring agent in soups.
I have never tried Kamias before, and I wish I was in a tropical country to enjoy this delicious shake! 🙂 Fruits in the Philippines must be so delicious!

Fruits in the philippines are juicy, sweet, and sour!
Portion control is usually my downfall too — way too easy to eat just a bit too much, and those little bits certainly add up. Great looking shake! Love the looks of it — thanks.
I do hope I could exercise portion control for a long time. Thanks John.
try diet diva peach 🙂 you can search them in FB or in google 🙂 hahaha! masarap portion control nila 🙂
I already called Diet Diva and they don’t deliver in Caloocan. 🙁

This seems a good one to try!
It’s perfect when you’re eating something fatty.
Kamias shake? What? hehehe … I wonder if I can take it.
I’m sure you can if you pair it with lechon and rice..LOL!
wow great iea!, wanna make this one
try it. it’s nice.
I’ve eaten raw kamias with salt but never had Kamias Shake before. That’s something I’d like to try!
Kamias dipped in rock salt is one of Ykaie’s fave..LOL!
I miss kamias. There was a tree before in my husband’s family’s home, and we would just pick from it. Sayang, coz the house has been sold already. That tree pa naman bore A LOT of fruit.
I think Kamias trees really bear a lot of fruit. I’m actually thinking of planting one.
Nag-salivate ako ng konti remembering how tangy/citrusy kamias can be! We have a kamias tree pa naman outside!
Lucky you! I only get to have Kamias when I go to my ILs house.
I am not a huge fan of kamias. I find the texture a bit weird. But I think I will give this shake a try. Baka sakali magustuhan ko na. 😀

I don’t really like the taste of Kamias. So, I don’t know if I’m going to like the shake version. Haha! But you know what, I’m a GRIMM addict too! 🙂 I love the show so much. I don’t miss an episode. Were you able to see the season finale already? Gosh, kakabitin!
oh wow, i grew up with a Kamias tree in our backyard but I have not thought of it as juice! Thanks for sharing your recipe
I love kamias! it taste so good when mixed with green mango shakes!
oh my gosh! I have never thought about this before, but imagining the taste is heaven! I should try making one of these! 🙂
Kamias is a fruit we regularly see around but not a lot of us have ever tried making kamias shake. Looks interesting enough to try! 🙂
A little bit off-topic from all the kamias talk here. Just want to ask of you were able to find a portion control seller delivering in the Caloocan area?
Nope, most of them are located in the South and they don’t cater in Camanava area.
