Complimentary Bread drizzled with Maple Syrup

Saying that I love Maple Syrup is an understatement. It is one of the flavors that I really really love. You’ll never ever catch me without Maple syrup in the fridge because we always have to have our pancakes and french toast any time of the day. Aside from that, I also love putting this sweet, golden syrup on anything I can get my hands on — pork, chicken, bacon, oatmeal –anything. I haven’t seen a Maple tree yet but I’m imagining that it’ll be something that would remind me of home.  I even love the shape of the Maple Leaf and I don’t even know the reason why.

So imagine how curious I was when I found out that there’s this certain restaurant called Maple in Shangri-La Plaza.

I love the Maple Tree in the Background!!

My friend Bren and I had lunch there last week. The place was cozy and homey. Being inspired by a classic children’s fairy tale, it was also charming with that silhouette of a Maple Tree being the centerpiece of the restaurant. I love that it is in all shades maple too: orange, brown, and yellows.

I later found out that Maple is a restaurant under the Pancake House group. So when I was handed out the menu, I was expecting an all-day breakfast menu but it was really nice that also carry out other food items.

The meal started with a complementary bread drizzled with maple syrup and whipped butter on the side (first photo). The bread gives off the impression that it’s hard when you bite into it but it’s actually chewy when you get it inside your mouth. The sweet maple syrup glaze balances out the spread of that salted whipped butter.

Maple : Texas Wedge Salad | www.thepeachkitchen.com
Texas Wedge Salad

It was followed by the Texas Wedge Salad (₱350) which instantly became my favorite salad of all time!

Bren and I are big salad lovers. She loves Iceberg lettuce while I prefer Romaine because Iceberg lettuce is too bland for my taste. This salad changed my mind about iceberg lettuce. I didn’t even know it could be served in wedges……. topped with Pico de Gallo, crumbled bleu cheese, bacon bits, corn kernels, sunflower seeds, and the creamiest bleu cheese dressing on earth. This, I will be ordering again when I come back at Maple.

Maple : Blackened Chicken | www.thepeachkitchen.com

The Blackened Chicken (₱450) is quite filling because of the big serving. Bren and I shared this dish and we wished we have one more person to share this with. The grilled chicken breast with spicy cajun rub is not only flavorful, it’s very tender and juicy.  It is served on top of creamed spinach, bacon and dirty rice.

Maple : Clam Aglio Olio | www.thepeachkitchen.com

Clam Aglio Olio (₱450) is a new item on the menu. We just had to try it, those open clams crowning the pasta is too hard to resist. I find this light and yet bursting with all things healthy and delicious — blistered baby tomatoes, pancetta, salmon, fresh basil, and loads of fresh clams all tossed in aglio olio smothered spaghetti.

Maple : Country Iced Tea | www.thepeachkitchen.com

Everything is downed with this citrusy Country Iced Tea (₱105).

Maple : Apple Pie with Streusel Topping | www.thepeachkitchen.com

To cap off our  wonderful lunch is this Apple Pie with Streusel Topping (₱240). Large chunks of Granny Smith and red Washington apples tossed in maple syrup filled the light, buttery pastry crust.  It’s covered in a sweet and crunchy streusle topping and served with vanilla ice cream on the side.

Maple is indeed a home away from home. The menu is filled with familiar comfort food that would keep both the tummy and the heart  satisfied.

I will see you again, Maple.
