Like I’ve said before, specialty ramen houses has been sprouting here and there like mushrooms in the past few months and many more have opened their branches in different areas. Some restaurants that didn’t serve ramen before even added it on their menu.
I am a noodle fan. You can just give me a bowl of good noodles with good soup and I’ll be happy. I’ve come to realize, though, that some of the ramens that I’ve tried lately is already made to suit the Pinoy palate. I wanted to try out more of the authentic ones.
Hanamaruken Ramen has been serving Ramen in Osaka for over 30 years. I’m glad they finally decided to open a branch here in the Philippines and to my surprise, it’s within my area! The first branch of Hanamaruken is now open at the 2nd Level Garden Restaurants in Trinoma.
The restaurant opened two months ago but it was only the other day when Ykaie, Sis, and I was able to pay them a visit. I so wanted to sit here at this table because of the wall background which seems to be an image of a Hanamaruken Branch in Japan but it was occupied when we came in. I just decided to take a photo of Ykaie when the other customer left..LOL!
While waiting for our food to be served, we were given a cup of hot tea.
We ordered some Gyoza ( ₱150) as a side dish and it was the first one to be served. It became sort of our appetizer. These pan-fried dumplings are filled with ground pork and you can taste the ginger in each bite. It was served with two kinds of sauces: chili oil and soy sauce.
I’m sure your mouth watered when you saw the first photo in this post. This is my order, Hanamaruken’s Signature Happiness Ramen (₱480) -a shoyu, tonkotsu ramen topped with a big slab of dark, tender and slow-braised pork rib. And because I loved eggs, I ordered my Happiness Ramen with Aji Tamago. The serving was quite big so I asked for an extra bowl and shared the “happiness” with Ykaie. The soup was so flavorful and I ate it alternately with the noodles and the pork rib so as to balance my ramen experience. It was totally love at first bite with the slow-braised pork rib. The meat was soooo tender, you can break it easily with the chopsticks.
This is the perfect meal given the cold weather that we are having these days…
We also ordered the Pot Belly Rice Bowl (₱225) so we can have a try of how the toppings would be if topped on rice instead of ramen. The Pot belly Rice Bowl is a bowl of perfectly cooked japanese rice topped with tender Kakuni (a Japanese braised pork dish which literally means “square simmered”) and spring onions. The flavor is quite unique. I wonder how this would taste paired with soup and ramen? The serving is also quite big, we weren’t able to finish all the rice.
I wanted to order their Iced Green Tea (₱80) but it was unavailable at that time. We’ll definitely be back to try out the other ramen and rice bowl variants. I am specially curious about the Spicy Tobanjan Ramen and the Currry Tan Tan Mien.
I hope they would serve dessert too because I am also big on dessert.. LOL!
Two thumbs up for Hanamaruken Ramen! See you again, soon!

Same here. Trinoma is the nearest mall aside from SM North EDSA to our home.
I haven’t tried having a meal here – but I just have to try the food – the atmosphere – just everything!
It’s near lang Aisha! This is located in Trinoma.
Hmm…looks really yummy! But seems like an expensive place. 🙂
Not really Marms, the price is just right for the authentic Japaanese ramen you’re getting. The servings are big too!
the family loves ramen too, as long as it’s affordable, i’m always going to come back to it.
You’ll find that the Happiness Ramen is around P480 but the serving is big. You can order extra soup for P150 and you can share the noodles and the pork rib with a friend
