Happy New Year to you!

How was your celebration? I hope you had a wonderful start of the year just like we did. Before I could even begin to tell you what we did to celebrate this coming Year of the Horse, let me just take a look back at the past year and reflect on the highlight of each month.

The past year has been good. I am very much grateful for the new experiences, opportunities, learning moments, and the new friends that I’ve gained. My eyes, heart, and mind has been opened and I am welcoming this coming year with more zest and love for the little and big adventures that life has to offer.

Here’s a quick look at the year that was…

We had an unforgettable New Year’s Eve Camping Party at the beginning of 2013. I’ve had my share of New Year’s resolution like losing more weight and saving money. I’d like to think that I was able to keep my resolutions, though. But I wasn’t able to maximize it into its full potential. I am still overweight and I’m still always tempted to buy the next set of cute bowls that I see.

The love month had me missing my peanutbutter a lot. In addition, I was very excited that he was coming home for a vacation the next month. We celebrated Valentine’s Day by having a Valentine Movie Night at Home complete with popcorn, sugar, and movie tickets!

This is the month when I fell in love with Trader Joe’s Speculoos Cookie Butter. Since it is not available at the supermarkets, I ordered from online sellers. Now, it’s available everywhere and I could satisfy my craving for it anytime.

peanutbutter came home and there was love everyday! We had a two-day staycation  at Discovery Suites and had Breakfast at Antonio’s as a family. This month had a total of only five posts, hahahah. Love kept me busy the whole time!

Mother’s Day and missing my peanutbutter had me sniffing and sobbing.

Actually, it was those tear-inducing Mother’s Day movies in Cinema One channel that had me crying. I’m sure you know the feeling… heehee. Anyway, that got me in the mood to eat ooey-gooey food and that gave me an idea to make this Kesong Puti & Malunggay Dip + Garlic Oregano Toasts.

Halfway through 2013, I realized I had to follow through with my New Year’s resolution and tried to exercise portion control. I also cooked healthier meals at home like this Stir-Fried Chicken in Chinese Garlic Sauce.

July had me baking healthier pastries too! This Blueberry Lemon Scones is made with greek yogurt, fresh blueberries and less sugar.

Oh, and I was featured at Working Mom Magazine! I was so flattered and thankful!

It was such a challenge to smile showing my teeth, though, because I rarely smile that way. I realized I had to show my teeth more when I smile and I’ve been practicing it. Now, I tend to give wide smiles during picture-takings..LOL!

Highlights of 2013

Proclaiming my love for salads with this Tropical Cobb Salad with Garlic Dressing. This is the month when I felt like taking a blog hiatus because I hadn’t been feeling it.Thank God I was able to overcome it.

September

I’ve heard about Chia Seeds and it’s many health benefits. Who knew it could also be so delicious and you can totally make a no-cook pudding from it.Check out this Coconut Mango Chia Pudding. It’s the bomb!

October

halloween pasta recipe swamp pesto with severed fingers

My favorite month has come and it was time to make scary-looking dishes like Halloween Pasta Recipe: Swamp Pesto with Severed Fingers. I already have plans for Halloween this year and it will give highlights to the Philippines scariest mythical creatures.

November

Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal

The last quarter of the year was quite a busy time for me – just after halloween and planning for Ykaie’s birthday plus a couple of life events — I was swamped! I wasn’t able to make calming fall dishes but I managed to squeeze in this Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal and a Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal Cookie.

December

Snowman Cheese Ball

We had a Snowman -themed Noche Buena and this Snowman Cheese Ball in Two-Flavors: Pesto and Bacon is kind of the star appetizer. Isn’t he the cutest?

♥♥♥

I believe I had such a full 2013. It  was overflowing with many blessings and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Thank you for giving me some of your time and being with me the past year. I couldn’t thank you enough.
