Aside from the Christmas goodies, what I’m most excited about when the month of November approaches is that we start buying Poinsettias, Christmas lights and lanterns to light up the house during the most festive season of the year.
When I was younger, my mother is the one-woman-army that makes the decorations committee at home. She does the planning and the selection of the lights, the color of the curtains and what would make up our Christmas tree. She’s also the one who puts up all the decorations. And we didn’t complain, because at the end of the day, our house became one of the most lighted and well-decorated houses in the neighborhood.
You see, my mom has plants all over our fence and when you put christmas lights on it like vines, well, the plants look enchanted…..almost magical.
When I started growing up, I also started accompanying my mother in buying the lanterns from Quiapo and the christmas lights from either Divisoria or at the mall. I also started giving her my input on the latest trend in Christmas decorations…hahaha. I couldn’t believe that putting up the lights and the lanterns could be so fulfilling, specially seeing them twinkle and sparkle after all the hardwork you’ve done to clip them up where they are.
That is why, one of the activities that I also enjoy doing during this time of the year is to go for a walk at night. I look at each and every house in the neighborhood and I can’t help but smile because the houses look very happy. They look like they’re smiling at me and I’m just smiling back at them.
These moments won’t be possible without Meralco. Meralco lights up our home, light up our life and lights up Christmas.
If you can remember, Maliwanag ang Pasko is Meralco’s signature Christmas campaign since 2006 that centers on helping charitable institutions. This year, Meralco has teamed up with Department of Tourism in making Christmas brighter and more fun by energizing island schools in Quezon, Palawan, Bohol and Dinagat Islands, creating more Liwanag Parks, and giving out to their customers.
I’m sure by this time each and everyone of you has decorated your home with the prettiest christmas lanterns and lights. And I’m absolutely sure, you’ve already taken a photo of it. Why don’t you share it using the Meralco Maliwanag Ang Pasko Facebook app and you could be one of the two daily winners of P5,000.
- Just Like the Meralco Facebook Page.
- Install the Meralco Maliwanag Ang Pasko Facebook app.
- Fill out your details on the app and submit the photo.
You can also share your photo taken when you visit one of the Liwanag Parks.
Tell me when your photo is up and I will check it out in the gallery♥!
