Yayoi

A couple of days before New Year, I went to the mall with the fam. We had a little mix of errands to run and, of course, the kids were eager to spend some of their Christmas money. Haha!

We decided to grab lunch at Yayoi. Since I’ve made a New Year’s resolution to eat healthier in 2025 (fingers crossed I stick to it), I opted for the Kani Salad (₱375). It was super fresh, with a generous amount of mixed greens, ripe mango cubes, shredded crabsticks, and a creamy mayo dressing. It ended up being so good, we all shared it!

Twinkle and I also shared the Salmon Roll (₱450) and California Roll (₱350). The Salmon Roll is a beautiful sushi creation with fresh salmon on top of sushi rice, rolled with crabsticks, shrimp, tamago, and cucumber. The California Roll is Twinkle’s fave—she loves the combination of mango and crabsticks in it.

Ykaie went for the Gyoza (₱295), and I’ve got to say, these dumplings were a hit! They were so juicy and flavorful, with a meaty filling that left us wanting more. This was just her appetizer though—her main course was the Beef Kamameshi Teishoku (P550), a flavorful dish with kettle-cooked rice topped with beef and an in-house special sauce. She ate it in different ways—beef and rice with sauce, or poured with fish broth. It was so delicious!

Daddydoodledoo, of course, went for his classic pick, the Miso-Katsu Teishoku (₱495). It’s deep-fried chicken cutlets smothered in Yayoi’s special Miso sauce, and it comes with an onsen egg on the side. You pour the egg over the katsu to balance out the saltiness. I have to say, it’s still a bit too salty for me, but he loves it!

We’ve always loved dining at Yayoi because the food is really tasty, though a little on the pricey side. But hey, it’s worth it every now and then!

So, how’s your New Year coming along? Got any exciting resolutions or plans? 😊
