Ever since I tried their Aburi Trays—especially their sushi bake—I’ve been dying to dine at Taste & Tell. If you haven’t heard of it yet, their sushi bake is seriously next level! So when I found out they opened a branch at SM North EDSA, I was super excited. But, you know how it goes—life gets busy, and we just hadn’t had the chance to check it out… until last weekend, that is! And let me tell you, it was totally worth the wait.

The moment we stepped inside the restaurant, I was already impressed by the cozy yet modern vibe. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel instantly at home but still has that fresh atmosphere. We were all hungry, and after perusing the menu, it was clear we were in for a treat.

Taste & Tell

We started with the Tempura (P395 for 5 pieces), and I have to say, it was a great choice to kick things off. The tempura was light and crispy—nothing too greasy, just the perfect crunch. We all agreed that it was a solid start to the meal.

Taste & Tell

I decided to go for the Spicy Salmon Maki (P420 for 6 pieces). If you’re a fan of spicy sushi, this one’s for you! It’s made with spicy salmon, Japanese rice, nori, tempura flakes, sesame seeds, and ebiko. Now, even though it was just 6 pieces, they were big! Like, one piece was a complete mouthful. But that’s not a complaint—it’s actually pretty satisfying. The spicy salmon had the right amount of heat, and the tempura flakes added a nice crunch. Every bite was a little explosion of flavor. Honestly, I could’ve eaten another order of this!

Twinkle went for the Taste & Tell Cali Roll (P380 for 6 pieces). It’s their take on the classic California roll, made with mango, kani, and cucumber. The mango gave it a nice sweet kick that balanced out the other flavors perfectly. Twinkle loved it because it wasn’t too heavy, and it had that fresh, clean taste that you want from a Cali roll.

Taste & Tell

Daddydoodledoo, who’s a big fan of fresh, raw fish, went for the Chirashi Bowl (P495). This bowl had it all—salmon, tuna, edamame, tamago, wakame, mango, cucumber, and sushi rice, all drizzled with Haru, a special sauce that tied everything together perfectly. It was a colorful, vibrant dish, and Daddydoodledoo was definitely pleased with the balance of flavors. The fish was super fresh, and the sauce really gave the dish that extra oomph.

Ykaie, on the other hand, is a little picky. She loves japanese food but doesn’t like the taste of nori (the seaweed wrap). So, she went for the Ebi Chahan (P295)—a shrimp and egg fried rice dish. It was a great choice because it was super flavorful . The rice was perfectly seasoned, and the shrimp added just the right touch of sweetness. It was a filling and comforting dish that hit the spot.

To wash everything down, Twinkle ordered the Iced Tea Slush. It was the perfect refresher after all the rich, flavorful food. The icy texture made it feel like a treat, and it was just sweet enough without being too sugary. It was the perfect balance, and we were all fighting over who got to take the last sip.

Overall, our lunch at Taste & Tell was amazing. The food was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor, and the atmosphere was just right for a laid-back yet satisfying meal. Every dish we tried was really well thought out, and you could tell that the quality was top-notch. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by. I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes on their menu—I’m already eyeing their Scallop x Salmon sushi bake for next time!
