Today was one of those days where plans for a casual coffee turned into a fun little merienda session with my friend DJ. We had planned to grab coffee, but instead, we ended up at Mad Cafe in SM Grand Central, where we decided to switch things up and indulge in some seriously delicious bites.
We brought our kids along too—Twinkle and Theo were all in for some fun as we kicked back and chatted.
What we ordered:
Crispy Calamari (₱239): Oh my, these were amazing! The calamari was crispy and golden, and it came with a garlic aioli that took it to the next level. A great starter to get the conversation going!
Cheesy Taco Dip Skillet (₱249): This was a total hit with the kids. It’s basically seasoned ground beef with taco spices, smothered in melted cheese, and served with crunchy nachos on the side. We practically devoured it in minutes. So cheesy, so good.
Iced Spanish Latte (₱139): Even though we weren’t having a full-on coffee session, I couldn’t resist getting my Iced Spanish Latte. It was the perfect balance of sweet and strong—a nice treat to sip on as we caught up.
Theo got the Candied Pork Belly (₱289): The pork belly looked super tender and glazed in a sweet sauce. It came with a fried egg, a side salad, and garlic rice (because who doesn’t love garlic rice?!). I think it’s tasty, and it really hit the spot.
DJ got the Classic Beef Burger (₱299) the burger looked really good with bacon, onion, tomato, and lettuce in brioche buns.
All in all, this little meet up turned into a memorable hangout. I hope we can do this more often.
Mad Cafe is located at 5/F SM Grand Central Caloocan City.
