Last Sunday’s dinner was at Shaokao BBQ in Banawe. We passed by this the other day and I thought it was another branch of our favorite Shaokao Grillery in Masinsinan St. in Diliman. I realized I wasn’t able to blog about it but I have a video in YT. Watch it below.
Shaokao in chinese means “barbecue” and both these restaurants are all about barbecue. They grill everything – beef, pork, chicken, vegetables, even tofu. But as I’ve said, these are different. So let me share this first with you.
It was a small restaurant and upon entry, you’ll be greeted by a chiller filled with all the skewers they offer. It was self-service. They will give you a tray and you can pick whatever you want. We had pork bbq, pork belly, chicken, lamb, squid, duck intestine, chicken soft bone, beef enoki, taiwan sausage, squid sausage, pork intestine, fish tofu, okra, and corn.
We also ordered this garlic oyster and garlic enoki mushrooms.
Everything that we ordered was perfectly grilled and well-seasoned. The only downside was their seasoning is spicy! It doesn’t sit well with my LPR and Twinkle couldn’t eat her pork belly and corn. It was too spicy for her. We ordered her another and told them not to season it but they still seasoned it mildly. The mild seasoning was still too spicy for Twinkle.
Overall we enjoyed the food naman but I’m looking for the not spicy version. Next time we are heading to Shaokao Grillery so Twinkle can also enjoy the food.
Shaokao BBQ is located at 1-D FYCA Bldg. Banawe Street, Corner Atok, Quezon City.
