My tastebuds were tingling with anticipation as we ventured to Racks, a restaurant claiming the crown for “best ribs in town.” They set the bar high, and let me tell you, they came pretty darn close to living up to the hype!
It has been quite a while since we last ate here. Our lunch started with a classic – the Onion Brick (₱425). Imagine a golden-fried tower of thinly sliced onions, perfectly crispy on the outside and with a surprising sweetness on the inside. It was the perfect shareable appetizer, disappearing faster than we could grab napkins.
Next up was the Garlic Scampi Pasta (₱365) . This dish offered a delightful contrast to the upcoming ribs. Plump, juicy shrimp bathed in a garlicky, buttery sauce served over a bed of pasta. A little on the bland side, but still delicious.
Then came the main event: the Classic Baby Ribs Full Rack (₱1575). This dish is what Racks is all about, and they did not disappoint. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, boasting a perfect balance of sweet and smoky flavors. The accompanying barbecue sauce was tangy and complemented the ribs beautifully.
It came with your choice of 4 regular sides and 4 slices of bread. While I can’t speak to every option, the ones we chose were fantastic. The creamy coleslaw provided a cool contrast to the ribs, the mac and cheese was a decadent cheesy dream, and the mashed potatoes were creamy but I wanted some gravy to go with it.
Overall, Racks delivered a fantastic lunch experience. The Onion Brick was a delightful starter, the Garlic Scampi Pasta was okay, and the Baby Back Ribs were the star of the show, living up to their reputation. With a wide variety of sides to choose from, you can truly customize your meal to your liking.
Here’s the verdict: While I can’t definitively say they’re the absolute best ribs in town (that’s a tough call!), Racks definitely deserves a top spot on the contender list. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, the service is friendly, and the food is undeniably delicious.
If you’re a rib aficionado or simply looking for a hearty and satisfying meal, Racks is a must-try!
