Twinkle loves Calamari. Whenever she sees it in the menu, that’s what she wants to order just like when we were at Chili’s and at Olive Garden. So when friends from The fat Butcher sent over frozen squid rings, I decided to cook Garlic Parmesan calamari for her. Syempre, ulam na rin namin.
It was quite easy to make naman. You’ll need squid, flour, cornstarch, egg, cooking oil, butter, parmesan cheese, and garlic, among other things. Watch the recipe video below to see how I made it.

Ingredients
- 500g squid rings
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 cup cornstarch
- cooking oil for frying
- 3 tbsp butter
- 5 cloves garlic minced
- 1.5 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp mayo + 1 tsp hot sauce (optional dipping sauce)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine your squid, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, egg, and flour. Mix well.
- Set aside for 15 minutes.
- Dredge each squid ring in cornstarch.
- Fry in hot oil until brown.
- To make the sauce, combine butter and minced garlic in a small pan and cook for 30 seconds. Add the grated parmesan cheese and mix well.
- Pour over the calamari and mix well to coat.
- Serve with hot sauce-mayo sauce.
