Ginataang Langka with Dilis

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped finely
  • 1 cup dried dilis (anchovies)
  • 3 tbsp sweet bagoong
  • 500g unripe langka or jackfruit, sliced thinly
  • 34 cups coconut milk
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • patis (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pot and sauté the garlic and onion until translucent.
  2. Add the dilis and cook for about 1-2  minutes.
  3. Add the bagoong and cook for about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the unripe langka and mix well.
  5. Pour in the coconut milk and stir.
  6. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until the jackfruit is tender.
  7. Adjust the seasonings. Season with pepper and patis (depending on your taste)
  8. Add chili if using
  9. Turn off heat and serve with steamed rice.
