The very first Merkado Supermarket was opened last July 31st 2015 at the U.P. Town Center. I was very lucky to be one of the first people to check out the place.
Merkado Supermarket is a joint venture between ALI Capital Corp.( a wholly owned subsidiary of Ayala Land ,Inc.) and Entenso Equities Inc. ( a wholly owned subsidiary of Puregold Priceclub Land ,Inc.). AyaGold is making market fun and easy with this new venture.
I was very excited too because I don’t consider grocery shopping as a chore but as a way to de-stress.
When doing the groceries, you’ll find me slowly walking on each and every aisle and take in all the products on the shelves. Are there new sauces? snacks? Do I buy a small one or a large one? Do I really need this? Oh heck, I’ll take it just so I could try.
Merkado Supermarket did not disappoint when it comes to the lay out and the size of the store. The aisle are wide you can do cartwheels plus it boasts of a clean lay-out and organized sections.
The staffs are very friendly as well and are ready to answer all your queries. They are well aware of the items they carry and where it is located inside the store. They also knowledgeable on which items are on sale.
As for the products they sell, well, both local and imported brands are available. You can even find brands that are only available in membership only supermarkets.
Food Finds
The supermarkets fresh produce section is heaven. Aside from fresh fruits and vegetables, I also scored some fresh Enoki Mushrooms for only ₱37 per pack.
The aroma of freshly baked goods lured me into the bread section where I found Baguette that’s 3 for ₱42. I also scored ten pieces of Spanish Bread for ₱11. What a really nice opening day it turned out to be!
Check out the coffee and the Cadbury products!
The ice cream choices are also extensive. They have Twix, Snickers, Ben & Jerry’s, and m&m’s.
…. of course, I had to check if they have steaks.
Drop by Merkado Supermarket and find out how they made market fun and easy!

I can’t wait to come back and shop at Merkado. They have a wide variety of imported products we can’t find in other leading supermarkets. 🙂
True. I love shopping at Merkado too but it’s too far from where I live.
At what time does Merkado Supermarket closes during weekdays (Mondays to Fridays)?
The verb should be close (sorry).
it closes at 9pm. 🙂
