The other day I encountered something on Facebook about 40 Things You Should Give Up For Lent. Lent is a season of the Christian Year where Christians focus on simple living, prayer, and fasting in order to grow closer to God. It’s the forty days before Easter. I went over the list quickly and I caught fastfood, facebook, cookies, chocolate, T.V.,and twitter among other things.
Usually, people give up eating red meat during Lenten season and opt for fish and vegetables. That was not the case when I was a child. You see, my nanay (mom) and tatay (dad) are both meat vendors and we sell pork and beef at the local wet market. We couldn’t possibly give up meat because that’s where our everyday food comes from. We only give up meat during Good Friday, that’s one day among the 40 days of the Lenten Season.
Now that I’m a mom and have my own family, I thought it’s about time I practice giving up meat during this solemn season. Last week, we started giving up meat and eat only fish, vegetables, and chicken.
I’m glad I got to know Fisherfarms products last month. Fisherfarms makes different ready-to-eat products made of milkfish so you can be assured that it’s healthy and fat-free.
Their products are very delicious and you can tell that they use fresh milkfish in making them. Take for example Fisher Farms’ Gourmet Baked Rellenong Bangus.
Fisher Farms’ Gourmet Baked Rellenong Bangus is made with a whole bangus that has been prepared with utmost care to keep its freshness and sweet flavor and will surely delight the whole family.
It was specially concocted by renowned celebrity chef Reggie Aspiras, assuring homemakers of a choice product that is fit to be served in any fine dining establishment. It comes in three sizes to suit your needs: 800 grams, 1.1 kilos, and 1.3 kilos. A whole fish could easily feed a party of 12 diners, depending on the size of relleno you choose. The whole bangus is stuffed with a savory filling of fish, sweet potato, bangus belly and shrimp.
One Gourmet Baked Rellenong Bangus is good enough for two meals for us since we’re only a family of three. So for one of our meals, I decided to make this yummy Rellenong Bangus Fried Rice which is like fried rice level 999…LOL!
It’s really good! I still have to have my banana ketchup, though.. something I cannot live without when eating Rellenong Bangus.
