Nutella Hot Chocolate

I have been on a coffee break for almost ten weeks now. Yup, you guessed it right……. because of the growing baby in my tummy. I’ve managed to replace my usual morning coffee with non-other than Milo. In the first weeks of my pregnancy, I prefer chocolate drinks that are not overly sweet nor chocolatey but now that I’m on my third month, I’m starting to crave a little more taste and a little more flavor.

My SIL came home from Dubai the 2nd week of November and aside from a bag of chocolates and nuts she’s given us, we also got a big jar of Nutella. That jar of nutella on top of our microwave called on me yesterday and asked me to make it into this mug of hot chocolate….

It was stirred into a 2 cups of 2% milk, a few chocolate chips, then topped with roasted marshmallows……………

Ahhhh… just what I need after 9 weeks — perfection liquefied! Hold on tight.

The roasted marshmallows melts on top of the hot chocolate and a little bit of it goes into your mouth on every sip, giving bursts of intense smoky flavors. How’s that to start your day?

I was feeling a little Christmassy too, sipping my Nutella Hot Chocolate beside our Christmas Tree and pairing it with S’mores Bar from Gimme S’more and cookies from The Bald Baker courtesy of Nuffnang Country Manager’s Dinner the night before.

I roasted extra marshmallows too! Oh, I can’t get enough of it!

Nutella Hot Chocolate

It’s been almost three months into my pregnancy and I feel that my morning sickness, picky eating, and sleepy bouts all throughout the day is slowly decreasing. Looks like I’ll be going back into posting recipes this month. Yaaayy!!

  1. To a fellow preggy mommy like me, thank you for this recipe!! 🙂 Too bad when I wrote “chocolate chips” on the grocery list earlier (coz I was planning to bake some cookies), the husband who did the shopping thought I wanted chocolate chip cookies and that’s what he brought home. *face palm* Haha! Oh well. I guess I’d be able to whip this next week na. I hope I don’t crave for it soon – i doubt it! Hehe 🙂

  2. Very good alternative to coffee for my pregnant wife. But I don’t feel I have the talent to execute this. I’m more into cooking dishes than preparing drinks 🙁

I love nutella and I will definitely give this a try. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I always have a jar of Nutella lying around because I love it on my morning toast but I’ve never tried making it into a hot drink. This sounds delicious especially now that it’s winter here. And hmmm, the roasted marshmallows! How fun!

  5. Oh wow! This looks absolutely delicious! I prefer hot chocolate over coffee so this recipe is right up my alley. This is perfect for Christmas and New Year mornings.

  6. I probably shouldn’t mention this, but I tasted nutella for the first time at Thanksgiving in a wonderful no bake cheesecake.
I have been avoiding it, because it’s too good and too easy to get at chocolate. But now I’ve had that first taste——-Ha.
So I KNOW it must make out of sight hot chocolate.

  7. Okay, that’s seriously the cutest mug ever! How festival! That Nutella hot chocolate sounds so yummy! I LOVE hot chocolate so much (and Nutella is pretty great too!) <3
