Purefoods Corned Beef Casserole and My Great Food Launch

Whether we like it or not, we mommies have the toughest job at home. We keep the house clean and tidy, we take of the kids and help them with their studies, we go to work, we plan our everyday menu, and we cook for our loves ones. Let’s admit it, there are times that we run out of ideas on what to prepare for our family. When that happens, I usually squeeze whatever creative juice is left in my brain and hopefully come up with something delicious.

We love corned beef here at home and it’s one of our go to viands when I run out of creative juice…LOL! Usually, I just sauté it with onions and then add some potatoes to make corned beef hash. Thank goodness my Ykaie is not a picky eater. She eats anything I cook for her but just like her daddy, she wants variety. She doesn’t want to eat one dish over and over again.

I’m so glad I found San Miguel Pure Foods My Great Food App! It’s a mobile app that provides food lovers like us with new and interesting recipes which we can easily cook at home.

It’s the app I used to come up with this delicious Corned Beef Casserole. We already have cans of Purefoods Corned Beef in stock at home. I used My Great Food App to search for a corned beef recipe which I think Ykaie and the rest of the family will love.

I already downloaded My Great Food App when I attended the launch last week (I will tell you all about that in a little while!). So in just a tap of my finger, I was able to open the menu. What I like about this app is that it has a lot of features including a grocery list, meal planner, recipe basket, cooking video gallery, and personalized recipe page. It also has a social networking feature that allows its members to interact and share their culinary experiences. These features can also be found in the My Great Food (MGF) website (www.mygreatfood.com).

Anyway, I tapped on recipes and then typed corned beef on the search bar. It prompted me to a page where all the corned beef recipes are listed like Corned Beef Quesadilla, Corned Beef Mini Cakes, and Creamy Corned Beef and Tomato Pasta.

I chose Corned Beef Casserole because it looks interesting and it looks like an über creamy dish– something we are also fond of. Plus, it’s the first time I’m gonna try corned beef in a pasta bake.

It was very easy to do! Just a combination of chopping and mixing and keeping yourself from eating it while it bubbles in the oven. I actually checked it out a number of times while it was cooking in the oven. It smelled sooooo good! The smell wafted in the kitchen.

It’s what everybody had for breakfast. It tasted even better that it smelled. I was actually surprised on how tasty this casserole was and I’m inspired to try more recipes.

San Miguel Pure Foods My Great Food Launch

Like what I told you earlier, I attended the San Miguel Pure Foods My Great Food Launch  which happened last Saturday, March 29,2014. It was held at the Marmalade Kitchen in BGC with the beautiful Ms. Christine Jacob-Sandejas as host.

There were many speakers that day including the San Miguel Pure Foods Culinary Services Manager . According to them San Miguel Pure Foods (SMPFC) aims to reach out to Filipino households and strengthen digital presence to parallel today’s growing online community that’s why the My Great Food website and app were created. It will serve as a recipe hub for everyone who has a heart for cooking. It has over 1,000 tested recipes perfect for special occasions, weekend getaways, or even everyday meals.

Aside from the recipes, one will also be able to view instructional cooking videos, save grocery list and even plan their weekly menu. MGF members will also  receive updates on special events, kitchen tips, recipe ideas, and latest trends in the food and dining scene.

To break the ice among the attendees, there was a Guess The Ingredients Game, wherein we were given a  bundle of cards with different ingredients written on it. We have to choose which among the ingredients is included in the dish assigned to us and we have to do in within a minute. The first group to gather all the correct ingredients wins the game. Our group’s dish is Beef Enchilada and we won this game..Weeee! We were given a container of yummy cookies as a prize.

After the game, Chef Aileen Anastacio, owner of Marmalade Kitchen, showed us in how to make Eggs Benedict and Fool-Proof Hollandaise Sauce through a cooking demo.

When we arrived at the event, there was a copy of the recipe of Eggs Benedict and Fool-Proof Hollandaise Sauce on each table. I thought we were gonna make it. I am not good at poaching egg and I was really nervous. It turned out to be just a guide for us while we watch Chef Aileen do her magic in the kitchen.

She made poaching egg look so easy! This was a shot from the mirror above the stove.

She made the Foolproof Hollandaise Sauce by using a blender and she showed us what to do in case the sauce breaks.

Chef Aileen also showed us how to make Almond Roca Iced Coffee by using San Mig Coffee. Perfect for the hot weather we are having these days, no?
