Summer time has always been one of the most awaited time of the year for our family. This is the time when school is over and vacation starts. This is also the time when peanutbutter♥ usually takes his one month vacation and comes home from his work overseas. Summer to me means having more time to bond with my family through family outings and out of town vacations. Summer also means fun classes for Ykaie. Last year, she attended swimming lessons which I insist she take every Summer. She also attended a Kiddie Crew Workshop. This year, she asked me if she can attend Taekwondo lessons as well. With peanutbutter♥ coming home in July and Ykaie’s interest in a lot of activities this year, I don’t think there’s gonna be much room for a family vacation. Good thing I found a fun and delicious way to bond with Ykaie. We are going to MIY (Mamon-It-Yourself) it this Summer!
Last April 5, 2014, Ykaie and I were able to participate in the Monde Summer Mamon-It-Yourself, a mamon decorating activity held at Yardstick in Makati. When Ykaie and I arrived at Yardstick, we were both surprised at how the decorations instantly lifted our mood.
There were lots of Monde Special Mamons around, as well as packs of Monde Special Cream Puffs. The blues, yellows, and browns (from Monde Special Choco Mamons) plus the different colorful toppings like candies and gummies around brought out positive vibes inside Yardstick.
There were wafers, cookie, and wafer sticks as well…
…plus frostings in different colors!
The event was hosted by Celebrity DJ Delamar Arias of RX 93.1. She talked about Cooper, her 2-year old son and how fun it is to be a mom.
She also introduced Chef Mitchi Sison who taught us how easy it was to make frosting. The one I liked most is the Cream Cheese Frosting (who doesn’t?) which is just a mixture of cream cheese and powdered sugar.
She also taught us how to frost our mamons using a piping bag and different decorating tips.
These are just two of her Mamon-It-Yourself samples. She used Monde Special Cream Puffs to top one of the mamons and gummy bears to top the other. She also invited us to give it a try ourselves.
You already know how interested Ykaie is in cooking and any activity which involves preparing food. She told me she wanted to give it a try so I let her. She piped in blue frosting on top of Monde Special Chocolate Mamon and I helped her put gummy bears, chocolate candies, and sprinkles on top.
It was my first time to meet the pretty Ms. Grace Barbers-Baja of thespoiledmummy.com. She showed us a few more yummy recipes to make with our mamon.
She showed us how to make Peanut butter and Banana Mamon which she also topped with banana chips for added crunch. I love the Ensaymada Mamon idea! Mamon topped with butter, brown sugar, and grated Queso de Bola. The Monde Special Mamon as a base is yummy on its own. Grace’s additons make it double yummy!
Ykaie loved “The Spoiled Mamon” that’s topped with Nutella, Pistachio, and Strawberry slices… Decorating mamon looked easy and fun from our seats…
The next thing we knew, it was our turn to decorate mamons. Each family had a table filled with Monde Special Mamon, Monde Special Cream Puffs, different kinds of toppings like chocolate chips, gummy bears, sprinkles, and frostings, plus different tools like spatula, piping bags, and decoratings tips. Monde Special Mamon is made with real fresh eggs, imported wheat flour, and milk. Baked to be delicious!
Ykaie wanted to make a castle, planets, and the zoo! LOL! I told her we should stick to easier decorations. Since we’ve just been on an outing with my sister and her friend, I thought it would be fun to have a “Summer Theme”. We managed to make a “Beach on a Mamon” with two gummy bears on the graham sand, admiring the frosting waters. A “Fruit Salad Mamon”, the one with pink frosting and then a variety of fruits. A “Swimming Pool Mamon” complete with wafer diving board, cashew life buoy, and gummy bear swimmers. A ” Grass and Flowers Mamon”. And a very cool “Sunburnt Man” wearing Sunglasses made of Bingo cookies.
After the Monde Mamon Decorating Activity came a surprise. A touching video of all the daddies and the children, each saying why they love their mommies. Please watch the video below…
After watching the video, each child got something for their moms, a Mamon which they decorated by themselves! This video ( and the mamon) was made while we were busy watching and listening to Chef Mitchie and The Spoiled Mummy.
It was such a fun event and one that will definitely be repeated at home many times daily. This may even become a ritual, something that we’ll always look forward to everyday.
Mamon-It-Yourself Saturday
We got a very cool Mamon-It-Yourself kit from the event. Inside were packs of Monde Mamon, Monde Cream Puffs, different toppings like peanutbutter, chocolate chips, and corn flakes, spatula, whisk and piping bags. This is what we used for our Mamon-It-Yourself activity at home. Since peanutbutter♥ is not yet home, Mamon- bonding is with Ykaie and my niece Cyra.
We love Nutella, Corn Flakes, and m&m’s topping for our mamons but we still continue to experiment with more toppings.
It’s fun to think of different ways to prepare our Monde Mamon. We’ll try the Monde Mamon a la Mode tomorrow. Mamon-It Yourself at home with your kids, mommies and please share your favorite toppings so Ykaie and I could try it as well. You can get ideas here: www.monde.com.ph. Don’t forget to post with the hashtag #MamonItYourself so Ykaie and I could easily find it.

Such a fun family event! It seems everyone (mommies and kids alike) enjoyed decorating their Monde Mamon.
Yes we did enjoy the decorating part specially because we’re doing it with our kiddos.
This is something that Little MrC and I can do at home this summer. The event looked like so much fun! Sana we get to join activities like these also. 🙂
It’s nice to do this at home. As usual, nutella is our favorite topping.
That’s a brilliant way to market their product, isn’t it? It gives consumers the idea on how to make mamon an exciting part of your parties. 🙂
At the rate you’re going mommy, you just might be able to hold your own events like these with you doing the demos and inviting the rest of us mommy bloggers to come and witness it 🙂
Thanks May. I don’t think I can hold demos, may stagefright ako eh..LOL!
My daughters would have loved to join this event. My second daughter actually wants to be a baker someday. Maybe we can practice with this activity at home. 🙂
This is a nice activity to do with your kids.
Would love to try cupcake decorating at home soon!
