Cherry Limeade | www.thepeachkitchen.com

Have I told you about my Mid-Year Resolution? I figured I could make one and start a few changes in my life this June. Not everything starts on the first day of the year nor the first day of the week.

I’ve been thinking a lot this past couple of months about trying to lose weight and I’ve been really trying. The thing is, I’m not really losing any. I might have lost a few pounds on some of the days but I just gained it all back the following week. I guess what I really need to do is a lifestyle change. I know it’s gonna be hard, specially when you get invited to try really nice restaurants but I just have to embrace the change that I want if I want it to happen.

Also, I don’t just want to lose weight…I want to eat healthier — be healthy and be stronger at the same time. I got sick with  coughs and colds for three weeks last month. Yes, my immunity sucked. It’s time to make changes.

I have to let go of my bad eating habits and start a new one. I know this is probably the hundredth time I’ve said this but this time I’m working towards a goal: I want to be pregnant next year. It’s hard to do that when I have all this extra weight hanging around.

I pulled up a chair, made myself this Cherry Limeade and started thinking about the things that I would like to change.

My first step is to probably let go of fastfood and restaurant food and start eating more homecooked meals. That way, I know what goes into the food that we eat. This is gonna be super hard and I bet you’ll still see a lot of restaurant features in this blog but I’m hoping that I could lessen it. If ever I indulged, I’d probably balance it out the following day by eating whole foods.

I also want to practice portion control, something I’m really bad at because I have a tendency to always supersize everything.

There. First two changes I made this mid-year.

Oh, I also started injecting some 30-minute exercises in my day. This is sustainable, right?

Cherry Limeade

It’s better if you use fresh cherries for this recipe. I tried looking at the nearby supermarket but there’s non available so I just used maraschino cherries instead.

  1. Gorgeous photos. I haven’t eaten out much for a long time. I did yesterday and it felt like a real celebration – something you don’t get when you eat out often. Plus, I really like my own cooking. 🙂

  2. Not much of a cherry fan but I think this is something new. I think the zing of the lime matches the sweetness of the cherry. Hoping to find fresh cherries though, I think they really do work better. =)

  6. I’ve read somewhere that Lime juice can actually help you lose weight, the healthy way. 😛 What it does is it rids your body of toxins, gives you Vitamin C and helps you to suppress the munchies, perfect if you’re like me who loves junk food. 😛

Ooh, getting pregnant can be tricky when it’s planned, it took us 2 years to conceive Lucas. 😛 Here’s to being preggy by next year! 🙂
