Heading for the South Beach

I tried The South Beach Diet to lose my post-pregnancy weight and it worked for me.I went in from 185lbs to 140lbs.Well,not my pre-pregnancy weight but it’s okay.Well, what is The South Beach Diet?

The South Beach Diet is a heart-friendly diet.It may seem similar to the Atkins Diet in the sense that It restricts the intake of carbohydrates but the SB diets allows “good carbs” once Phase one is over.

This diet focuses on a healthy balance between carbs and fats — good carbs and fats. Highly processed foods like baked goods, sweets, and soft drinks will be off-limits.

Dr. Agatston says decreasing the bad carbs will help you metabolize what you eat more effectively and will also improve insulin resistance, leading to weight loss. There are three Phases to the South Beach Diet. Each phase include specific allowable foods and meal plans

PHASE ONE last for two weeks and is the strictest of the three. It is when you will limit the most carbs from your daily diet, including fruit, bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, sugar, alcohol, and baked goods.
That would mean most of the food that we eat in a day!

PHASE TWO now allows you to add the foods from the foods to avoid list from phase one.You can now cherry pick which of these foods to add back into your diet. While you can’t eat them all they’ll no longer be off-limits.

PHASE THREE is the least restrictive Phase of The South Beach Diet. Dr. Agatston says as long as you continue follow some basic guidelines, the diet has become your way of life and you’ll continue to maintain your weight.
